Through our unique profession, we cross paths with people from all walks of life. Sometimes these include those with truly unfortunate circumstances such as a single mother who has been battling a long domestic assault relationship and has been staying with her 4 children, at a women's shelter. Or a group of 6 children who have been been able to stay with their grandparents while their parents deal with chemical dependency issues, but meanwhile their grandparents are unable to work and finances have been strained. Or a domestic assault survivor, who is now physically disabled, diagnosed with kidney cancer, and has been staying at a homeless shelter with her 2 children. As individuals, and throughout the year, there seem to be limits to what we can do.
Last year, we decided to sponsor these families during the holiday season at our Glow of Hope event. We asked you for donations of money, toys, gently used furniture, miscellaneous household goods, your time, energy and consideration. Through our combined efforts, we were able to provide groceries, a well prepared holiday meal, gifts for each child, gently used sofas, mattresses and other household items that were needed. We will be repeating this event for December 2018.
Thank you to all those who participated! Here is a short video of last year's event here.
