GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Be a liaison between Law Enforcement and the Asian community to create a stronger working relationship
Recruit and retain talented, multilingual and educated Asian Law Enforcement professionals.
Create fellowship, unity, and networking among Asian American law enforcement professionals.
Promote tolerance and understanding of Asian cultures in Law Enforcement.
The Minnesota Asian Peace Officers Association (MNAPOA) started in 2008 with four Asian veteran police officers coming together with a vision to help their younger recruited and newly hired Asian police officers with their career path through support, guidance, and resources. They knew and experienced the adversity of being an Asian police officer in Minnesota where traditionally law enforcement careers aren’t widely pursued and supported by the Asian communities or their families. They’ve created a vision and the goals that created the opportunities for law enforcement agencies to be more reflective and responsive of the communities they served. Their commitments lead to gaining the support from Police Chief John Harrington and the National Asian Peace Officers Association (NAPOA).
The Minnesota Asian Peace Officers Association (MNAPOA) is a non-profit organization with the goals to build a successful recruitment and retention of talented multilingual and educated Asian law enforcement professionals, create a stronger working relationship between the Asian community and law enforcement, establish a networking system among Asian peace officers, and promote awareness and understanding of the many rich Asian ethnic cultures into law enforcement.
As of 2017, the Minnesota Asian Peace Officers Association has grown to 200 members from various local, county, and state agencies, and members’ with many rich backgrounds in Asian, Latinos, Blacks, and Whites. The Minnesota Asian Peace Officers Association (MNAPOA) is here for the communities they serve and the law enforcement communities that they're a family of. Read our current bylaws here.
